Understanding the "Uncategorized" and "Untagged" Features in Eagle

During Eagle material management, you may encounter two special categories: "Uncategorized" and "Untagged". This article will explain their specific meanings and usage scenarios.

What is "Uncategorized"

"Uncategorized" refers to materials in the leftt-side "Folders" panel that have not yet been added to any folder. These files have been imported into Eagle but have not been organized yet.

Calculation example:

  • If you have 10 uncategorized files and 190 categorized files
  • The total of "Uncategorized" and "Categorized" files is 200, which equals the number of "All" files

What is "Untagged"

"Untagged" refers to materials in the left-side "Tags" panel that have not been assigned any tags yet.

Usage tips:

  • If your total material count is 100 and the "Untagged" count is also 100, this indicates that all materials have no tags assigned
  • Adding appropriate tags to materials can significantly improve organization and search efficiency

Important notes

  • "Uncategorized" and "Untagged" are system-generated categories that help you identify materials needing further organization
  • Regularly checking and organizing materials in these two categories helps maintain an orderly material library
  • Good categorization and tagging habits can greatly improve material search efficiency
