When using Eagle, if you try to import files that already exist in the system, a duplicate file prompt window will appear. This article will explain how to handle these prompts and how to disable this feature.
Handling Duplicate File Prompt Windows
When a duplicate file prompt window appears, you can handle it in the following ways:
- Check "Use existing file" and then click "Import"—this method will not increase the number of files in the library, it only references existing files
- Cancel the import operation: click the "X" button in the upper right corner of the window or press the
Esc
key on your keyboard
Disabling the Duplicate File Prompt Feature
If you want to completely disable duplicate file prompts during the import process, you can follow these steps to turn off this feature:
- Open Eagle's "Preferences"
- Search for "duplicate" or directly navigate to the "General" settings page
- Uncheck the "Notify me when importing duplicates" option
- Save Changes
After completing the above settings, when you import files that already exist in the library, Eagle will no longer display the duplicate file prompt window.
